The Effectiveness of Print Advertising

Posted on | January 27, 2009 | No Comments

I advertise for ZenMastering in a number of online forums: Google’s AdWords being the most prominent. But also weekly newspaper websites like OC Weekly and the San Diego Reader.

Last year I decided to make a more concerted effort to reach local musicians and ran print ads in three of San Diego’s biggest music events:

  • The San Diego Music Awards
  • San Diego Indie Music Fest
  • North By Northpark

In each of these event’s programs I ran a full-page four-color ad. Very prominent. Yet I don’t think that my local clientele went up at all in 2008.

It makes me wonder about the effectiveness of print advertising. I reach people in San Diego and around the globe much more effectively with online (keyword targeted) advertising.
