Good Sounding Rooms Don’t Come in a Box

Today, most tracking rooms are small, with no ambiance to speak of. It’s been that way since the ’80s…which is why artificial reverb got so popular. But there’s no replacing the real thing.

I got a chance to do some work in an old-time, TV studio-style room today, and it reminded me what a difference a good sounding room makes. Here’s a shot of the room from my iPhone…
