From Ohm to Om — The ZenMastering Blog

Thoughts on the world of audio recording, mixing, and mastering.

Timeframe for Mastering

Posted on | May 15, 2009 | No Comments

I received an e-mail today from a musician who wanted to know if his band could get their EP mastered this weekend. Today is Friday.

As a general rule, most professional mastering facilities are booked weeks — sometimes months — in advance. In ZenMastering’s case, I currently am finishing up two projects and have my next projects already scheduled. Several other projects are in discussion to follow those.

To find a mastering facility to take the recording on this short notice, the artist will need to either find a facility that’s not very busy or one willing to bump someone else’s project to get theirs done.

Neither option exudes professionalism.
