I work a lot with indie artists, and sometimes these are people who don’t have that much experience in recording or mixing. So I’ll ask them to re-do a mix if I feel something could be done better…or I’ll do a few versions of a master in an effort to get something as good as possible.
I was kicking around the Waves Web site and came across this piece of an interview with mastering legend Bob Ludwig. I’m glad to know that “the big boys” also create alternate mixes and masters.
